In addition the the eco-tourism that the area is traditionally known for, the regions of Barahona and Bahoruco also have the gorgeous natural beaches of San Rafael, Paraíso, Los Patos, Saladilla and El Quemaíto. They offer an incredible panoramic view when traveling through to Pedernales, the furthest point to the south west. Here, you will find an incredible perspective of the rocky beaches. However, you need to be careful around the rocky marine currents.

In Pedernales, you will find the beach that is considered by most Dominicans to be the best in the whole country: Eagle Bay Beach. While it can be difficult to get to, it is worth the adventure. Both Eagle Bay and Cabo Rojo have fine white sands and clear shallow waters. Eagle Bay Beach can be accessed by boat or by a very steep and dangerous path, which can be driven with a four-wheel drive vehicle with an experienced driver.
