Pablo Picassso Works at the MAM
From 20 April to 30 May visitors at the Museum of Modern Art will be able to enjoy works by famous Spanish painter Pablo Picasso. The exhibit is entitled "Box of Remorse", a 45-piece collection which Picasso developed from 1919-1954. The exhibit is open from 10am-6pm Tuesday-Thursday. Admission is free.

Europe on Display at the Parque Independencia
Onlookers at the Parque Independencia will be able to enjoy an exhibition entitled "27 Capitals of the European Union" until 27 May. The exposition showcases photographs and information of each of the 27 countries that comprise the European Nation. The exhibition is being sponsored by the French Embassy along with the Secretary of Cultural.

International Book Fair 2007
The "Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2007" will take place 23 April to 6 May at the Plaza de la Cultura. Now in its 10th year, the fair has invited Columbia as the country of honor for the nation's continued literary contributions.

Dominican Documentary
A powerful documentary entitled "Immigrants heading to the Mother Land" will be shown 30 April at 8:30pm at the Videoteca Jean Luis Jorge as part of the International Book Fair. The documentary, by Dominican Miguel Angel Bonifacio, deals with the cruel reality Dominicans face when emigrating to Spain.

Silvio Rodriguez to sing for free
Renowned Cuban singer/song writer Silvio Rodriguez will offer a free concert for all Dominicans to enjoy. On 30 April at 8:30pm at the Estadio Olimpico, the Cuban guitarist will perform some of his greatest hits over the years like: "Ojala", "Te doy una cancion", "Causas y Azares", "Unicornio" and more. This will be Rodriguez's first free concert on Dominican soil.

New twist to Romeo and Juliet
An interesting version of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" will be performed at the Teatro Guloya 3 May at 8:30pm. The version is entitled "Juliet, Juliet", which portrays Romeo as an unromantic character with sex instead of love on his mind. Admission is RD$300 per person. Teatro Guloya is located on Félix MarÃa del Monte #5 in Gazcue.

Dominican Song Festival
The Secretary of Culture has announced the first annual "Dominican Song Festival Eduardo Brito", to be celebrated 2-3 June 2007. The festival encourages Dominicans to write original songs and submit them for various prizes that include cash and a chance to have the song released on CD with the other finalists. Chosen songs will be performed during the festival's celebration in June and cash prizes will be handed out ranging from RD$300,000 to RD$1,000,000.

Winnie the Poo Bear
Winnie the Poo and the gang will be visiting the Dominican Republic for the first time this upcoming summer. "Disney Live Winnie the Poo" is the name of the performance that will take place in August 2007 at the Palacio de los Deportes. DANR National Conference
The Dominican American National Roundable (DANR) will hold their 10th annual National Conference from 30 November-3 December. The conference will be held at the Radisson Miami Downtown Hotel in Miami, Florida. This is the only National Conference in the U.S. that brings together Dominicans from around the country for the purpose of community empowerment.
